Levent Kiriscioglu was born in Istanbul, Turkey. He completed his elementary and secondary studies in İstanbul. Later he was accepted to Boston University, where he received his B.Sc. Degree in Hotel and Restaurant Administration. An MBA degree followed at Bentley College. After returning back to Turkey he worked as an executive for multinational companies in the field of Sales and Marketing.

During his professional life, his love for the nature found a gateway in sailing. He received his ASA certifications up to Yachtmaster level from Florida, USA. Later he received CYA certifications. He passed the Yachtmaster Coastal Instructor examination of the International Yachtmaster Training Center, Florida, U.S.A.  

His love of the sea and sailing grew and led him to buy his first boat YOL. He and his wife agreed on setting sail to new frontiers. They left Turkey and sailed around the world. They still hold the title of the youngest Turkish sailors to circumnavigate.

Their daughter, Derin joined the family in September 2008.
